Peace Day 2025, March 4
“Let Peace Run Things!” (Mek Peace Run Tings!)
Slogan: “Let Peace Run Things!” (Mek Peace Run Tings!)
Scripture Readings: Romans 12: 9-21
Prayer: Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy
O divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood as to understand
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive
It in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.

Theme Song Lyrics:
I’ve got peace like a river (2x) I’ve got peace like a river in my soul. I’ve got peace like a river (2x) I’ve got peace like a river in my soul. I’ve got love like the ocean (2x) I’ve got love like the ocean in my soul. I’ve got love like the ocean (2x) I’ve got love like the ocean in my soul. |
I’ve got joy like a fountain (2x) I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. I’ve got joy like a fountain (2x) I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. I’ve got peace like a river. I’ve got love like the ocean. I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. I’ve got peace like a river. I’ve got love like the ocean. I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. |
The Message
‘Let Peace Run Things’
My message to you today is about a powerful idea that can change the world. It’s a simple message, but one that holds immense power: “Let Peace Run Things.”
Peace is like a gentle breeze that soothes our souls and brings harmony to our lives. It is the key that unlocks happiness and allows us to live together as one big and happy family. In Jamaica, we are blessed with a beautiful island and vibrant culture, but we also face challenges with each other that sometimes make everything so unpleasant. Let me tell you, my young friends, that peace is the answer to face these challenges.
Imagine a world where there are no fights or quarrels, where everyone is treated with kindness and respect. It is a world where we celebrate our differences and learn from one another. That’s the world we can create if we let peace run things.
Peace begins with each of us. It starts with choosing to be kind, compassionate, and understanding. It means resolving conflicts through peaceful dialogue and finding solutions that benefit everyone.
But peace doesn’t stop there. It extends beyond our homes and schools into our communities and our country. It means working together to build a society based on justice and equality. It means supporting each other and lifting each other up.
My young friends, you have the power to make a difference. You can be ambassadors of peace, spreading love and understanding wherever you go. Remember, even the smallest act of kindness can have a ripple effect and inspire others to do the same.
So let us come together and embrace peace. Let us be the generation that breaks the cycle of violence and builds a brighter future. Let peace run things and watch as our beautiful island flourishes with love, harmony, and unity.
May we all let peace run things, always.
